Phone Number & Address
What should I list as my business telephone number with Dun & Bradstreet and on my applications?
If you already have a separate business telephone land line and telephone number that is listed with directory assistance (411), then that would be the ideal number to use.
If you do not have a separate business number, then you may decide to use your cell phone or home phone as your business phone line. You can always change the number you are listing with Dun & Bradstreet later.
Eventually, you will need to have a business phone number that is listed with directory assistance. Getting this accomplished is part of our business credit-building program’s “Securing a 411 number,” which you will find as a step you need to take in Month 1.
Although requesting a DUNS number is necessary, you do not need to get your business phone number listed first in the 411 directory in order to begin this program!
The first vendor credit applications you submit during Month 2 do not require that the phone number be listed in the 411 directory. That is why instructions for getting a business phone line listed with 411 are listed after verifying your business information with the Secretary of State and securing one, designated phone number for your business.
If you’d like suggestions on phone services you can use for your business phone line, the orientation section contains phone service suggestions.
What should I list as my company’s physical business address with Dun & Bradstreet and on my applications, if I don’t currently have a commercial location?
If you don’t gave a business adress, you can use your home or residential address. Despite what you may have heard, it is perfectly acceptable to work from home AND to list your home address as your primary address for your Corporation or LLC. DO NOT, however, use a P.O. Box or virtual office address.

Why Not?
The problem with both P.O. Boxes and virtual offices is that they get red flagged by the business credit bureaus. Too often, the businesses that list these addresses as their primary location have no real revenue coming in or are flat out fraudulent. It is extremely easy for them to tell which addresses are virtual offices or P.O. Boxes because literally hundreds of businesses show up claiming the same address.[/contentbox]
If you don´t have a commercial business location, we recommend using your residential adress for now. You continue to use your residential address as your primary business location with Dun & Bradstreet and on all of your credit applications.
